Founder and designer Renia Pruchnicki started Truth in 2001 from her apartment in downtown Toronto.
Renia’s previous designing experience was technical, having designed ski and snowboard outerwear, cosmetic bags and technical backpacks.
She applied her knowledge of working with non-leather technical materials to belt making.
Truth’s reputation for producing durable yet fashionable non-leather accessories spread quickly, and in 2003, PETA awarded Truth with a Proggy Award for “Best Leather Replacement Clothing Company in North America”.
Truth belts are manufactured in Toronto using 100% vegan synthetic materials, jute, and hemp.
