Vegan shoes!? What are vegan shoes?
Our products are not produced with materials derived from animals. The usual associations people make with "vegan" pertain to diet. However, anyone who cares not to eat animals wouldn't want to wear them either! Veganism avoids exploitation of other beings for self indulgence. Be assured that all our products are 100% vegan, including glues and other "hidden" places animal products can hide. We do not carry silk, wool, or cheese shoes either. Back to questions
In what ways are your products "eco-friendly"?
There are several factors we consider before labeling a product we sell as eco-friendly.
We believe that products made without the need to raise an animal for material deserves a
merit for environmentalism. However we seek out products with other attributes as well, namely
that they are:
- made locally
- use a low impact manufacturing process
and those made of materials which are:
- re-used
- recycled
- biodegradable
- certified organic
Of course there are many other things to consider, and only a few of our products are going to have all the characterstics listed above. We do our best to find the most eco-friendly products and companies we can. If you'd like information about a particular brand we carry, call or come in and ask. Back to questions
What do you mean by "sweatshop-free"?
Before we stock a product, we get an explicit statement from the company that they do
not use sweatshop labor. Additionally, many of the companies whose products we carry
are founded on fair labor principles.
Without visiting the actual workplaces and doing a thorough investigation, it is difficult to know exactly what is
happening. We continually try to search out information on the companies we carry
if we ever learn of unfair labor practices at a company whose brand we stock, we will discontinue
carrying that company's products immediately. If you have information you'd like to share with
us about some manufacturer's products we carry, please contact us.

What is your in-store return policy?
We accept returned items within 30 days of purchase for a full refund.
We cannot accept for return items with signs of wear.
Please save your receipt, otherwise store credit will be issued.
If you do not have a receipt, we will issue a store credit for the lowest
price at which that item has sold in the past.
If you are unsure whether your new shoes fit, but want to try them out
please avoid scuffing the bottoms by only wearing them on smooth or carpeted surfaces
for a limited time.
After 30 days, only store credit on returns will be issued.
We cannot accept any returns after 90 days.
Again, the item must be in like new condition only.
If an item is defective, a refund will be issued.
This will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

What is your return policy for merchandise bought online?
For online purchases, Ahimsa Footwear accepts all returns within 30 days of customer receipt for a full refund or exchange. Shipping is not refunded unless the item is defective. The same rules apply as in-store: All returned items must be in new condition for a refund to be granted. So only wear shoes inside with socks until you have decided on keeping them. Do you take special orders?
This varies depending on the manufacturer, and may require a deposit. Please call us
or email if you cannot find what you're looking for in the brands we carry.
Special orders which have not been picked up(or if we haven't heard from you)
will be put into regular inventory two weeks after we receive them. After that your special
order could be sold at any time.

Do you have narrow or wide widths?
Unfortunately, the vegan shoe market is still small enough that shoe manufacturers have not expanded into specialty widths. The only shoes we have available at this time in narrow and wide widths are the Klogs. As demand for vegan shoes increases, so will the breadth and depth of vegan shoe offerings. Back to questions
What if I'm still not sure what size I shoe I should purchase?
We are happy to discuss with you the nuances of the shoe style's sizing in order to maximize the likelihood that your new shoe will fit. Just shoot us an email or if you'd prefer to discuss your order real time, call 1-877-VEG-FOOT (Mountain time 11am to 7pm daily, except Tuesdays). Back to questions

- Shipping for orders under $15 is $2.
- Orders $15 to $50 will be charged $6
- Orders $50 and more will be charged $8

- Orders shipped within Colorado are subject to sales tax.
What happened to the stuff in my basket? It is gone!
Your basket expires after about an hour and a half of no activity on our site.
We do this so that you don't have items in the basket which may be out of stock when you go to
check out. Let us know if this is a major annoyance. The alternative is to have you get halfway through
the checkout process and then be notified that we've sold out of that particularly hot item!
Note that if items aren't staying in your basket immediately after adding them (like the next page you
visit you notice there aren't any items in your basket) you may have cookies disabled, but you should
receive a message when you attempt to put something in the basket stating this.
